On Android, Lasso works over other apps. On iPhone, a Shortcut brings a screenshot into Lasso.
Draw along the words you need. Your stroke can be uneven: lift your finger and Lasso neatly highlights the selected words and shows their translation in the bubble.
Draw diagonally from one corner of the text block to the opposite corner. Lift your finger and Lasso selects the text inside that area and shows its translation in the bubble.
Draw a vertical stroke through the lines of the paragraph you need. You do not have to cover entire words: just cross the lines. Lift your finger and Lasso highlights the paragraph and shows its translation in the bubble.
This button controls selection on the screenshot inside Lasso, not over other apps. Tap to start or pause selection; hold to reveal actions. You can move it, open the camera, share the image, change settings, or discuss the text by voice.
Choose the source language or Auto-detect, then the translation language. Local translation is always free and available to everyone. If a local model exists for a language, it starts downloading automatically when you select that language. If no local model exists, translation requires cloud models.
The bubble shows selected text and translation results on the screenshot open in Lasso. Drag its text or empty space: at an edge, the bubble changes shape and text reflows. Its buttons let you listen, copy text, and manage the blocks.
Expand Lasso’s actions, turn on the microphone, then collapse the menu. Ask about anything in the text on screen: word meanings, synonyms, grammar, or translation nuances. The assistant uses the selected text and image as context.
In Photos or another app, tap Share and choose Lasso. The image opens in the Lasso extension within the system sheet; no separate shortcut is needed.
